I feel totally devastated and shocked to know about Professor Kaliappan's sad demise. He was one among a few that I really admired and respected, for his magnanimity, wisdom, academic insight and depth. I always respected him from the very core of my heart though we met only a few times. I fondly remember his comment on my presentation during the IAAP conference: "Dr. Daftuar, my God! You are a real thinker!" I treasure this kind comment like a fresh flower in my memory all the time, even today.

Professor (Dr.) C.N. Daftuar , D.Litt.
CMD and Chief Consultant, Salahkaar Consultants
Former Head, Department of Psychology
M.S. University of Baroda

As the head of the department when I was doing my Masters, he initially inspired awe and a kind of unreachability which was quickly dispelled during his lectures and demonstrations which left us wanting more. Rest in peace, sir.

Professor Kaliappan was a great person with noble thoughts. He was always helping people to overcome their problems. He was very sincere in whatever he did. I had a close relationship with him from 1976 onwards. May his soul rest in peace.

During our days at AIIMH (All India Institute of Mental Health, Bangalore), Dr. Kaliappan was known to me very personally. He was very active in the IACP (Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists). He was the secretary of the association in 1973-74,  and the president from 1992 to 1993. He was responsible for conducting the annual conference of the IACP in 1973. His interest spread to many areas of psychology. We have lost a good friend. He was one of the forces to bring all the associations of psychologists under one umbrella. We will surely miss his leadership. I personally lost a good friend.

Dr. V. C. George
President, IACP (Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists)

I am terribly grieved to hear of the sad demise of Professor Kaliappan. He was not only a very dear colleague, but someone who was respected for his uprightness. He contributed greatly to the growth of psychology in India. We worked together on many committees and I always benefited from his sage advice. His is a great loss to the community of psychologists. May he rest in peace.

In the passing away of Professor K.V.Kalliappan, we have lost a genuine psychologist, an institution builder and a dependable scholar. He has left behind a great legacy of flourishing organizations and family. But bigger than anything else, he has left the great memory of a dynamic person, impacting the lives of his students, colleagues and admirers. I have lost a wonderful friend, and extend my homage to the departed soul.

In losing Professor Kaliappan, we have certainly lost a dedicated psychologist, devoted researcher, committed force behind the Indian Association of Applied Psychologists (IAAP), and above all, a truly dependable and fine friend. I very deeply condole the sad demise of such an eminent psychologist who always supported all just causes.
